SALEM, Ore. — On June 16, MyPillow, Inc. CEO Mike Lindell distributed a press release stating he had been "largely victorious" and "was overwhelmingly cleared of wrongdoing" after a jury ruled against him in a defamation case brought by Dominion executive Eric Coomer. The court also assessed $2.3 million in damages to Coomer.
The press release is seen by many as a spin attempt due to the fact that Lindell and his FrankSpeech LLC were found guilty rather than the separate legal entity, MyPillow, and that the financial award could have been far more than $2.3 million - up to $60 million.
That spin perhaps had not come soon enough in its coordination, as prior to the press release, Lindell friend Joe Oltmann who is also no stranger to such lawsuits and testified on behalf of Lindell, posted on X that the loss was "judicial rape." Oltmann continues, "I cannot see there is any hope given that this continues under 47."
Messaging whiplash ensued. Lindell said of the verdict during an interview, "It was awesome!"
Lindell has claimed to be approximately $10 million in debt as of June 2025, having depleted his personal fortune, which he estimated was once between $50–60 million. In April 2025, he told a district court that he and his company owed more than $70 million in debts and back payments. Those obligations include $2.3 million to Eric Coomer, $5 million to Robert Zeidman, $8.8 million to FedEx, $56,396 to Smartmatic, millions in unpaid legal fees, and a $4.6 million IRS lien.
